A boy who isn’t wealthy with money but has been brought up by his uncle to value the right things in life is given a gift. While hunting in the woods for deer, Eragon comes across a beautiful rock that he tries to sell at the market for some meat but the butcher won’t take it since Eragon found it in the Spine.

Taking it home and getting back to doing chores, Eragon realizes that the blue rock is an egg, a DRAGON’S EGG. He soon realizes that all he has known is now gone. A boy, his dragon, and an old storyteller, adventure through lands run by an evil king who doesn’t like to be bested by anyone or anything.
Eragon becomes the new Dragon Rider and while learning magic and power, he also learns his destiny. Can the Dragon Rider and his young dragon help the Varden defeat the evil king?

Paolini wasn’t even 20 yet when he wrote this book. An absolute fantastic world to live in outside of reality. I was very engrossed into this book and couldn’t wait until the next one came out so I could get my fix of Alagaesia.
