www.read-that.com book review

Shari Cooper seemed to have it all. Good looks, popularity, and some of the best friends. Or so she thought. When she wakes up dead from falling off a balcony, everyone says that she committed suicide. Her brother was the only one that couldn’t believe it. At the party that Shari died at, she was basically dumped by her boyfriend for another girl and learned all the same that her friends had to of pushed her. Although she didn’t know which one, she suspected them all. While being from the other side, she does her best to figure out what happened that night and what went wrong in her life. She wanted more than anything to ease her brother and her parents pain. As the truth starts to unravel, she learns that if her life was lived again, she would just want to be remembered. As she goes about finding a way to do that as well as everything else, she feels that she has purpose.

This was a decent book. Not the best but far from the worst. I guess that I was expecting something explosive after Thirst 1 and 2. It’s not like it didn’t interest me, it just was not very exciting. It tended to run around and I was able to know who was the culprit but not why. Like I said, I can’t put my finger on it but it just wasn’t it. I won’t stop reading Pike’s work but this just wasn’t a favorite. I would give it a 2.5 out of 5 mainly for originality.

PHANTOM, EVIL THIRST, CREATURES OF FOREVER

Christopher Pike brings your imagination back to the long, long life of Sita. Sita is a five thousand year old vampire and she believes to be the last. She was torn away from her loving husband and beautiful little girl when she was turned into a bloodthirsty vampire. The only regrets she has are of them. She has killed just for the hell of it, out of convenience, so she wasn’t outed by being non human, and for thirst. Of all those many she’s killed, there are no regrets. Her regrets are more emotional towards those she loved and lost and what she, herself has lost. Sita’s most desperate desire is to be human again and she gets that chance. There was no way of her turning down that opportunity even if she didn’t make it through. She still had to try.

Once becoming human which was what she wanted most of all, she found Ray again. Although he should be dead since she watched him blow up. But hey, who is she to question Krishna? Everything that Sita could have dreamed of was happening. She was living in a small house with Ray and she gets pregnant. Also finding an old soul that she feels that she knows but just met, turns into a loving friendship.

There are many, many, ups and downs in this book and I really liked it. I don’t think its one that I could read again and again but for a one-night-stand (as far as books go) it was worth a first read. Unlike Thirst No 1, I wasn’t as into it but I couldn’t put it down. Those of you that read all the time ought to know what I mean. I am a fiction reader. Once something hits too close to home about religion, I generally don’t go there. There was just enough to keep me interested in the vampire parts to not think so much about the religion. Krishna and the story behind him, I can handle but adding Kalika to the mix and what she stands for and all the prophecy about Jesus returning in a different form just isn’t my cup of tea. Like I said, I finished this book in 2 days so I did enjoy it but there was something about the religion part that would keep me from reading it again. Of course if you have read the first one, you have to read the second. I believe the first one leaves you hanging. I know that there won’t be any more books about Sita. Well I couldn’t guarantee that since it is fiction. I would give it 4 stars out of 5 but if you can get into the religious part then you would really enjoy it.

Happy Reading!!!

Meet Alisa Perne. The things you know or think you know about vampires are purely fiction. Alisa is a five thousand year old vampire. She does not kill her victims for blood but drinks only enough and makes them forget and leaves them with no memory of it and no marks. She can also go out into the sunlight without any adverse effects like going up in flames. The sun does weaken her powers and makes her tired. She does not sleep in a coffin but in a bed and only needs a few hours to regenerate. She is not indestructible but is very hard to kill. She made a vow to her God, Krishna, not to make any more vampires so she is doing her best to live up to that promise. Also her creator and once lover has come back to destroy her and fulfill his vow to Krishna, which was to kill those he made. Only Alisa is left.

Things seem to be changing when a PI finds out some interesting facts and wants to blackmail her for a million dollars. Not that she doesn’t have it but nobody should know anything personal about her so he is killed. His son is the only one left that can help her with the password to his father’s computer. She only wanted to clean up the mess. So she becomes Lara Adams and enrolls in High School.

Alisa is tired of killing and wants to be left alone but not really alone. She seems the type of person to want what she can’t have which is to be human and be loved. She does find love and friendship in unsuspecting places but also hardship. She has spent so long without emotions that when she learns what they are, she starts to change. Live a little in her world and enjoy.

Do you believe in vampires? Reincarnation? You will stretch your imagination a little with this book. I enjoyed reading it but it wasn’t in my top 10. It was easy to read and really leaves you hanging at the end. Well written and good storyline. I will buy the second one of this series soon. I can’t stand to not know what happens.

Alisa’s story continues in THIRST No. 2
