In one year’s time four of Ellerton’s High School classmates have died. Starting with Jonas who mysteriously wrecked his motorcycle while driving with his girlfriend, Zoey. The next was Arizona and then Summer. Last to die was Phoenix, Darina’s boyfriend. He was stabbed by someone unknown during a big fight. This last death broke her heart. She was upset about the other kids but Phoenix was her soulmate. When she takes a drive out to the middle of nowhere and then decides to walk, she comes across a barn and the people inside are her four classmates along with others she didn’t know. She couldn’t seem to wrap her mind around the fact that she was seeing dead people. When Phoenix came around to talk to her, she knew that she was crazy. He told her that some people were allowed to come back and have justice before they move on. It seems that these people were called Beautiful Dead. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing or seeing. Once the leader of the group decides that she could maybe help them out, he agrees to leave her memories of seeing them,  as long as she can keep her mouth shut. Now Darina seems to have a will to go on plus a big responsibility. Her job is to help find out what happened to Jonas to make him wreck. Jonas has no recollection of the accident at all and neither does his girlfriend, who is still alive. It seems that the Beautiful Dead are only allowed to be in between for a year and that’s it. She only has a few more days to unravel a mystery that is intriguing but scary. Can she help the Beautiful Dead with their missions or will it be too much?

You really ought to check this one out. It is easy to read and has a good story line. I enjoyed the characters since they weren’t too complicated and really enjoyed how everything ended up. I wasn’t expecting an ending like that and I always liked being surprised. Looking forward to the next installment about one of the girls. Hope that Maguire can keep up the good work.
