Anita Blake Vampire Hunter #1,#2, #3

Guilty Pleasures – The Laughing Corpse – Circus of the Damned

This book is about Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter. It all starts here in Club Vampyre compiled of the first three novels about Anita Blake. I don’t recommend this book for anyone under age simply because it isn’t for their eyes. This is an adult book with some explicit scenes which isn’t a bad thing for me since this series is my all time favorite. But I wanted to give fair warning that this IS NOT for kids.

Vampirism is legal in the United States and so is raising the dead, even to testify in court. Of course you have to have some money because Anita Blake, necromancer, isn’t cheap neither is her manager, Bert, at Animators, Inc. That is just her day job. Animators also has the police department on retainer so anytime the Spook Squad or RPIT needs preternatural advice, Anita is who they call. She also gets to execute vampires when needed.

She lives in St. Louis, a thriving vampire city. Jean Claude is a club owner and master vampire and he happens to own Guilty Pleasures, St. Louis’ very own vampire strip club. He is intrigued by Anita and tries to capture her attention but she’s not having it. After a few vampires are killed in their own district, Anita is called to help find the culprit. Of course Anita doesn’t want to work for any vampires but she is coerced. After looking at the crime scenes and giving her professional opinion to the police, Anita now has to help find whoever is responsible and not lose herself on the way.

Laurell K Hamilton is my favorite author. Even though I enjoy younger books such as Twilight and The House of Night series, I really enjoy adult situations. That is what makes her books so real to me. Younger books can stimulate your imagination and all but not like Hamilton can. Her style of writing is genuine and excellent. I have read this series more than once and was enchanted every time. Her imagination must be really wild to come up with all the characters and what they do (never-mind that). She is awesome. I give this series two thumbs up since I only have two to give.
