Anita Blake Vampire Hunter Series #6

Anita Blake is a vampire hunter and is known as the Executioner to all. She is also a necromancer and raises zombies for a living and if that isn’t enough on her plate, she also is a preternatural expert for the police. With all that, time is precious and she spends it going back and forth between her boyfriends. Richard is the handsome, boy scout type with the only downfall, besides not killing anyone, is he’s a werewolf. On the other hand is Jean Claude. Now he’s the Master Vampire of the City of St. Louis and surrounding territory. His only downfall besides being dead is that he’s blackmailing Anita into dating him. He has given her the option of him killing Richard or getting the chance to seduce her. She decided to keep Richard alive and so here they are.

Edward gives Anita a call during a date with Richard and tells her that he just got a hit out on her. He said he wasn’t going to take it but for that kind of money, someone will. With Anita jumping at shadows, Richard takes her to his house. During the stay with him there was werewolf business to tend to so Anita got a first hand view of what pack life was all about. Being his girlfriend would by rights make her lupa of the pack if she was furry once a month, but did that matter? She’s already given her protection to one wolf, what’s another or a pack? The Killing Dance is what the wolves fighting for dominance in the pack is called. Also the fight for Anita’s life could be called the killing dance once she finds out who put up the money to have her killed.

Her next date with Jean Claude brought them out in the limelight and she couldn’t hide who she was dating anymore. Trying to keep from getting killed, help the police on a crime scene that she was a suspect for and fighting with the two monsters I mean men in her life is about too much. Also she’s waiting for the right time to tell Jean Claude that she’s chosen Richard instead of him but just has to get over one minor detail, he has to change form for her. Will she be able to handle it? If not will she turn to Jean Claude? What’s in store for the local werewolf pack?

I hate to give out too many details to ruin the story but I wanted you to know what you’d be getting into. I really enjoy these characters. After these 6 books I have grown to know them and would hate for anything to happen to them, even though they’re monsters. Hamilton has such a vivid imagination. I have to give her kudos for all these adventures so far. A must read along with the others. If you aren’t familiar with the others you can read on the rest of my reviews and I have them numbered.

Does your opinion differ from mine? Do you have a book or review that you want to share? Let me know, I am very open-minded and love to read. A great combo, I have to admit.
