Anita Blake Vampire Hunter #4

Anita Blake can’t seem to get anything accomplished without work getting in the way. She also has Richard, her werewolf boyfriend, to think about. I don’t think that Anita knows what to do about getting serious. Richard and her are comfortable together but things start to get dicey when he asks her to marry him. She had decided not to go all the way with anyone till she gets married so the tension is out of this world when they are alone together. After saying yes without even thinking about it, she starts to find out things about him that he should of told her. His pack is having a hard time with discipline. Richard doesn’t want to have to kill the leader but to come to a sort of compromise. He’s not into all that. (I know, he wants to marry Anita but doesn’t like all the killing?) He has bested the pack leader but didn’t kill him to seal the deal. Now the wolves are divided and Anita was left out in the dark about it all.

Edward ( I love this guy!) comes around wanting to get Anita to help him. In case you don’t know Edward, he is contract killer who got tired of the human killings and decided to challenge himself to go after vampires and lycanthropes. He and Anita trust each other to have their backs but there will come a time that Edward will wonder if Anita is better or not. Anyway, the vampires call Anita, the Executioner, but they call Edward, Death.

Also, Anita has to tell Jean Claude that her and Richard are getting married, but are they now that he didn’t mention all those details? Plus she hasn’t even seen him change yet. Anyway, telling Jean Claude wasn’t on her priority list until a jealous vampire named Gretchen wouldn’t leave her alone about it. Gretchen wants Jean Claude for herself and she thinks that the only thing standing in her way is Anita.

I really feel sorry for Anita sometimes. I wouldn’t even be able to get out of bed after some of the beatings she takes. Of course I don’t think that I would actually be around vampires either. I absolutely have to give kudos to Hamilton for this book. It’s not my favorite of the series but I wouldn’t be able to pick just one anyway. Really a fast paced, get your heart racing, kinda book. LOVED IT!!!!!
