This is the third Blue Blood novel. I wasn’t that impressed with the first book but the second and this one really made my head spin.

This is the third Blue Blood novel. I wasn’t that impressed with the first book but the second and this one really made my head spin. You still have all the fashion sense and the music and art, but hey these are ancient vampires.

I almost wrote De La Cruz off my list of authors after the first because I couldn’t seem to get into it. I felt out of style and not too bright. After the second, Masquerade, I was hooked. I updated myself by reading this series again so I could be true to the review. I was able to read all three books in three days and am happy to say that this third was my favorite. By no means is it the end (I think) but it left you feeling sated. I enjoyed the plot. The love Schuyler had for Jack and for Oliver. The twist on vampires was really nice. There wasn’t any gore. Almost all your questions get answered.

Schuyler and Oliver went to find her grandfather in the second on this series. When they found him, he was no help. Now he decides to come back and help not only her but the whole Conclave. The Silver Bloods are not who you think they are and that was a refreshing insight. I don’t like books that you know from the beginning who done it and why.

This story is definately a page turner and I recommend it highly, which you need to read the whole series to get the full effect. Hang in there with the first one and you’ll be glad you did. De La Cruz seems to have got something good up her sleeve for a comeback after this one.

Happy Reading!

Ok on the first book of this series, Blue Bloods, I was not impressed. Of course I had to read on anyway. I enjoyed this second book much better than the first. Schuyler Van Alen is back and wanting to know why supposed immortals are dying. Her best friend and conduit, Oliver, helps to find out the truth. They run off to Italy, looking for her grandfather, after losing her grandmother. This story is more adventurous and has more of a plot and kind of leaves you hanging waiting for the next.
Schuyler is trying to figure things out. The boys in her life, the vampire killings, and trying to find a grandfather who she has no idea what he looks like or anything. Nobody wants to tell her anything.
After the Blue Bloods I was disappointed. I read the back of this book and went ahead and bought this one and the next. I was pleased. I guess the first one was just getting to know the characters and learning a new plot to keep up with. I don’t know if I would recommend Blue Bloods before but without it, you don’t know all the characters in this one. For a rainy day it was ok.
Masquerade on the other hand was much better. I knew the people and there was a much better plot. I would give this one a thumbs up. Of course there is still the fashion and riches, art and music. I swear that I felt like a country bumpkin when I was done. I didn’t know half of what the characters were wearing. I guess that is what turned me off the first novel. There was too much fashion sense and not enough plot. This novel on the other hand still has the fashion but isn’t dominating the story. There is still a plot and it’s just the beginning.

Well we can be sure that this author knows all about fashion. I had a hard time getting into this book. I don’t know much about the fashion circuit or rich city life so it was hard to let myself live in their world.

This vampire series has quite a twist in it. There are misfits and there are rich kids in the New York City area. They all go to a private school, Duchesne. Schuyler Van Alen doesn’t fit in with the others at school. She still received an invitation to join The Committee. The Committee consists of the wealthy, powerful, and unhuman.

At 15, Schuyler finds out she is among the 400 and is immortal, so they say. They are known as the Blue Bloods. After I got through the beginning and started learning about the few characters, I started to like it. I had to buy the others in the series out of curiosity and it gets better. Not the best series out there but I have read worse.
