Ok on the first book of this series, Blue Bloods, I was not impressed. Of course I had to read on anyway. I enjoyed this second book much better than the first. Schuyler Van Alen is back and wanting to know why supposed immortals are dying. Her best friend and conduit, Oliver, helps to find out the truth. They run off to Italy, looking for her grandfather, after losing her grandmother. This story is more adventurous and has more of a plot and kind of leaves you hanging waiting for the next.
Schuyler is trying to figure things out. The boys in her life, the vampire killings, and trying to find a grandfather who she has no idea what he looks like or anything. Nobody wants to tell her anything.
After the Blue Bloods I was disappointed. I read the back of this book and went ahead and bought this one and the next. I was pleased. I guess the first one was just getting to know the characters and learning a new plot to keep up with. I don’t know if I would recommend Blue Bloods before but without it, you don’t know all the characters in this one. For a rainy day it was ok.
Masquerade on the other hand was much better. I knew the people and there was a much better plot. I would give this one a thumbs up. Of course there is still the fashion and riches, art and music. I swear that I felt like a country bumpkin when I was done. I didn’t know half of what the characters were wearing. I guess that is what turned me off the first novel. There was too much fashion sense and not enough plot. This novel on the other hand still has the fashion but isn’t dominating the story. There is still a plot and it’s just the beginning.
