Such a heart-wrenching story. Just like a Nicholas Sparks novel. I loved it.

Ronnie was a confused kid trying to grip the fact that her father just up and left her, her mother, and her little brother. She hasn’t talked to him when he called or even open any of his letters. All of a sudden her mother decides that it’s time that little Jonah and Ronnie need to leave New York for the summer and spend it with their father. He lives on the beach in North Carolina. It has been three years since she’s spoken to him and now her mother wanted them to share a home for the whole summer in a foreign town. Ronnie’s relationship with her mom has been on the rocks for quite some time.

Once they got down there, she was lost as to what to do and where to go from there. She found a volleyball game going on and while checking that out, one of the players ran into her and spilled her soda down her shirt. She knew right off that he was good looking but didn’t think that he was her type or the other way around. She was lost in what she was going to do for the whole summer. How was she going to survive a whole summer, plus she had to share a room with her little brother.

It starts off after the soda spilling incident when she runs into someone else and spills the rest on her shirt. Meeting a girl that had potential to be someone to hang out with was that result. Her name was Blaze and her attitude matched Ronnie’s to a tee. One thing happens and then another and everything turns upside down. Learning to know who you really are isn’t an easy road.

I cried and cried with this book. I thought that my heart would break right along with Ronnie’s. I felt her joy and I felt her pain. I was touched by the whole story. I was scared by the time I was half way through this story since I thought what was going to happen. I am also familiar with Nicholas Sparks’ writing. I knew that the ending would cut me one way or the other but it left me hanging till the very end. If you’re looking for a solid story that you can relate to and need an emotional moment, you need this book. I give it 5 stars out of 4. It’s that good. Have some tissues readily available for it though. Enjoy!
