Welcome back to the House of Night. We left off from Tempted when Zoey watched Kalona kill her human consort, Heath Luck. While sending the element spirit at Kalona, Zoey, herself shattered. I mean that literally, her spirit shattered and went to the Otherworld. Her body was still breathing and functioning, her mind was gone. Knowing that she had a limited time there and would die for sure if she stayed, the nerd herd, Aphrodite and her warrior, and Stark, Zoey’s warrior, were going to find anything they could to save her.

While Zoey’s spirit is shattered, she starts to loose some of herself. The only good thing about the otherworld is that Heath is with her. He refuses to forgive her since this wasn’t her fault and feels that they could stay there in this peaceful grove forever. He sees everything as perfect if she would just put her spirit back together and they could really be together even with him dead.

Kalona has been wounded enough by Zoey hurling spirit at him that Neferet takes her advantage and sends his spirit back to the Otherworld to make sure that Zoey never returns. Neferet vows to the Darkness that Kalona is not to come back until Zoey is gone and that he is held bound by Darkness until his task is complete.

Stevie Rae, Zoey’s BFF, has been trying to grasp all that has happened. She is juggling to keep her secret that she is imprinted with a Raven Mocker, the son of Kalona himself. He has saved Stevie Rae’s life more than once. He is starting to have feelings when around her such as humanity and compassion. He knows that being imprinted with The Red One is why he’s having these thoughts and feelings but he doesn’t want their bond to change. What will come of them when everyone learns about them? Her friends at the House of Night? His Father, Kalona?

Will all the secrets come back and bite Stevie Rae? Will Zoey be able to put herself back together to help save the world? Can she let go of her lifelong love and a peaceful place to go back to heartache and responsibility?

I was so grateful that this finally came out. I was left hanging from the last one and was chomping at the bit for something to ease my curiosity. I love this series. Of course, now I can’t wait for the following book, Awakened. I guess that’s how you always feel when you really get into a series. There are only a few books I enjoy more than this. I would recommend this to everyone and anyone. Superb! Kudos to the authors for again and again keeping me on the edge of my seat and panting for more.

It seems like I waited and waited for this one to come out but now that I’ve read it, I will feel like it’s taking forever for the next one. These two authors know how to write a cliffhanger that’s for sure. Not that that’s a bad thing but the waiting for the next one sucks.

As you should already know that Zoey Redbird is a fledgling vampyre at the House of Night. Her Goddess, Nyx, has gifted her with all 5 of the elements. That makes Zoey very different at the school. When we left off of the 5th book Zoey and her for lack of a better word, disciples had succeeded in banishing Kalona, a fallen angel that’s evil, and Neferet, the ex High Priestess of the school. While trying to recoup from the toll that has taken on her, Erik, her super hot vampyre boyfriend, and Heath, her also hot human quarterback boyfriend, are at each other too much and Zo can’t take it anymore. She is too worried about Stark, another hot red vampyre who has given her his Warrior’s Oath. She decides that Erik is too possessive for her and he gets dumped. That just leaves Heath and Stark. They both have a bond with Zoey because with Stark being her warrior and Heath being her human consort. Maybe she can deal with that except that Kalona keeps entering her dreams.

Zoey finally figures out why she is so atuned to Kalona, even though he’s evil. She is A-ya reincarnated. That sucks for her. Her grandma is the only one that she can tell all her secrets to. Her BFF, Stevie Rae, is hiding somethings from her and until that trust comes back, she can’t tell her anything important. Once things settle down they all sit down to decide on how to go home to the House of Night. What are they going to find there? Chaos and downright hatred from almost all the other fledglings. That was unexpected. Someone has to figure out what to do about the school and Kalona and all the fledglings and guess what, they want Zoey to be that someone.

I finished this book in one sitting. I definitely couldn’t put it down. I cried and laughed and couldn’t believe the ending. I can’t wait for the next one to come out. I just know that there has to be a next one and I will definitely buy that one too. I have to give this one two big thumbs up and hope the Cast authors are revving up for another one. Marked – Betrayed – Chosen – Untamed – Hunted

Oh my! This is my favorite one yet. This is the fifth book in the House of Night series and I absolutely loved it.

Zoey Redbird is a vampire fledgling touched by the Goddess Nyx. Only being marked for a few months, Zoey has to save the world. With the help of her friends, Damien (air), Shaunee (fire), Erin, (water), and Stevie Rae (earth), Zoey (spirit) can do it. The whole House of Night has become under the spell of Kalona, a fallen angel gone bad, really bad. Neferet is or was the High Priestess but has turned her back on Nyx and went to Kalona instead. Not only does Zoey have to fight the lure of Kalona but she has juggle her feelings for Eric, Heath (the human), and Stark (the recently dead undead). Stark is or was possibly her soul mate the way they both clicked on his first night there. Of course he died then too. Now Zoey has to remind him that he has choices and can choose good over evil but it has to be his choice. Heath can’t seem to leave Zoey alone since they grew up together. It helps that his blood is irresistible to Zoey. Eric has forgiven her for being with Loren and wants her forgiveness for being a jerk. What is she going to do about all them.

After one of the Red Fledglings wrote a prophecy poem on humanity, Zoey thinks its about Stark. Being attacked by one of the Raven Mockers leads Zoey back to the House of Night to keep from dying. Once she is better the following day, the whole group has decided that they have to leave and leave now. One of the other poems written was how to cast Kalona aside only it was in poem form and they have to decipher it.

Will Zoey and her gang get away from Kalona? Can she keep from being put under his spell like the others?Is War with the humans imminent?

I have watched all these people grow from simple fledglings to the powerful group they are now. I  love all of Zoey’s boyfriends and don’t know how she can choose only one. Stark has the cocky boy additude, Eric is the best of the best, and Heath is her comfort since they have been together since grade school. This book kept me on the edge of my loveseat from beginning to end. I think that this one is the best so far and can’t wait until the next book, Tempted, comes out. This is a definately must read. Even knowing what happens I still read them again and again.

Untamed

Zoey Redbird has been marked for 2 months and has had her best friend die and then undie, had three boyfriends at one time, Eric was a fledgling who was totally into Zoey, Heath was her human boyfriend who accidentally imprinted, and Loren Blake was a teacher. After an intimate time with Loren, which Eric walked in on, the imprint with Heath was painfully removed.  She lost all three and all her friends had abandoned her. They felt that they weren’t trustworthy but Zoey didn’t want to tell them out of fear that Neferet would read their minds. When Aphrodite has visions of Zoey’s death and the war that follows, things start to change. Zoey’s friends learn about the visions and want her to not be alone since the visions stated that she was killed because she was alone. Loren is now dead and her imprint with him is gone. Eric comes back to teach at the school and it happens to be the class that Zoey is taking.

Neferet and Zoey are going head to head and may the best High Priestess win. The Goddess Nyx told Zoey that Neferet isn’t listening to her anymore and that the one thing she gives all her children is free will. Neferet has been drawn to Chaos and is turning dark. She wants an all out war against the humans for killing the teachers at House of Night. Zoey has to stop her. A blessing in the form of the High Priestess of all vamps, Shekinah has a grip on Neferet for now and she seems to get along with Zoey well.

Zoey has to figure out how to tell Shekinah the truth about Neferet without getting herself into trouble. She wants to tell her about the kids dying and then undying like Stevie Rae. The ritual that she has to perform in front of the whole school is going to be difficult since Aphrodite doesn’t have the affinity for earth anymore. They decide that is the best way for Stevie Rae to come out is at the ritual and stand for the earth affinity. In the meantime there is the Raven Mockers. The chaos and the darkness. What will happen if Neferet succeeds in putting Zoey down and bringing back any others? You’ll have to read it to find out.

This series is the bomb. I have really enjoyed this book as well as the others. This is the fourth book in this series. It begins with Marked, Betrayed, Chosen, and then Untamed. Don’t forget to look for the fifth book in this series named Hunted. Trust me you won’t be disappointed.

Chosen was wonderfully wicked. Your imagination soars and then hits home. Zoey Redbird is a fledgling vampire in the House of Night, a vampire finishing school if you will. Her best friend is undead and she can’t tell her other friends about it. She has caught the eye of  a teacher that is dreamy to say the least. Also having Eric Night as her vampire boyfriend but you can’t leave out Heath, her human boyfriend. What a tangle of a predicament. Zoey also has enemies who are becoming friends for reasons she can’t tell anyone and friends who are becoming enemies because of it. Plus Zoey keeps it real with her Goddess Nyx, even though she’s not sure if she’s cut out to be the eyes and ears for her.

These characters are fictional but for the time you’re reading they seem real. At least they did for me. I couldn’t pick a favorite person. They all are down home and easy to like or hate. Damien and the Twins are a laugh. Eric is Superman gorgeous. Neferet is a whole other story in my opinion. Can’t forget Grandma Redbird, who is Zoey’s rock.

Again a thumbs up to the authors for another marvelous book. Keep em coming!!!

Zoey is getting along really well at school. She has her friends, a boyfriend or two, and is the leader of the Dark Daughters and Sons. She also has an affinity for all 5 elements which are air, fire, water, earth, and spirit. She is also High Priestess in training. Things don’t stay good for long. Something starts to go wrong. Zoey is confronted with heartache over friends. Some high school kids she knows are disappearing and the House of Night looks like the guilty party. Zoey’s powers are weighing heavily on her shoulders and she’s starting to lose it when the blood-lust takes over.

Heath is her almost ex-boyfriend that she imprinted with in Marked. Her imprint is starting to cause difficulties with her new boyfriend but she can’t seem to say no to her human. When he disappears, Zoey has so use all her powers and what friends she has left to figure out what is going on.

I hope I haven’t given too much away. That is the hardest part of writing a review. I have read this book many times and again before writing this so I didn’t go too far ahead in the series and give it away. I want to have the desire to read  this book but I don’t want to spell out the whole story line and make it uneventful for you.

As with the book before, I loved this one. These characters are down to earth, other than being vampires and having powers that is. I think it’s a little darker and older than Marked, but that didn’t make wrong. I couldn’t put this book down. My family had to buy pizza because I wouldn’t cook supper that night. That’s how much I enjoyed Betrayed. Thumbs up again to Mother and Daughter for a wonderful read.

Zoey Redbird is a 16 year old who only wants to fit in somewhere. Her mom remarried a loser and that makes home life really lame. School is her only outlet where she can be around her friends and feel like she belongs. That is until a dead or should I say undead Tracker finds her at her locker and marks her. Now her whole world is turned upside down. She has to leave school and home and start a new life and a new species. Being marked means you have to move to the House of Night which is a vampire school. If you complete the change you will become a full fledged vampire, until then you’re a fledgling. A very special fledgling at that. Of course the down side is if your body rejects the change you really die.

While at the school, Zoey discovers new friends, a new boyfriend, and new powers that Nyx (the Goddess of Night) has given her. Although things are definately looking up, there are some bad things going on but Zoey has no idea what to do about it or who she should tell about it.

Very easy to read and well put together. I definately recommend this book as well as the others in this series. I loved them. The Casts give you dark but funny, and leave you wanting more.
