Percy and the other campers from Camp Half-Blood knew that the big war was coming but they just didn’t know when. Percy knew the prophecy like the back of his hand and since he was going to turn 16 very soon, the battle would begin very soon.

With the Gods from Olympus busy trying to take down Typhon, it was up to the demigods to keep Kronos from taking over and destroying Olympus. As the whole gang try their hardest to keep Kronos and his army at bay, the Gods had their hands full keeping Typhon from destroying everything in his path before he got to Olympus. Poseidon couldn’t seem to help since he was defending his palace from the other Titan of the Ocean, Oceanus. With everyone busy the fate of New York was in the hands of Percy and his camp of half-bloods. Many fates are finalized. The Gods were doing their best at tempting fate but were limited to not standing in front of it. It will take all the faith and hope Percy has to listen to the prophecy and make sense of it, take control of his army, and keep his last vision from coming true. His last vision consisted of New York and Olympus in ruins. What will be in store for Percy and his fellow warriors? You have to read this one.

I love love love this book. I was on my toes throughout the entire story. With so many twists and turns, you don’t know what is going to happen until it happens. I like having endings that aren’t predictable. I wouldn’t have guessed this ending at all. It is a good ending though, but I hope that there is more to come of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. There is never a dull moment for Percy throughout this. I thought my life was stressful. Major stars to the author for this outstanding series. What a read!

Percy Jackson wasn’t expecting any trouble at the new school his mom’s boyfriend got him into. It’s not that Percy is a bad kid, just that trouble seems to follow him. It could be that he is the son of Poseidon and very powerful. At his orientation, he ran into an acquaintance that helped him out before. Was that coincidence? After some of the cheerleaders turn out to be demons and the school’s band room was destroyed by fire, Percy got outta there. It seems that there is a labyrinth underground and Luke, Percy’s once friend and now bitter enemy, is trying to find his way through it. The gang believe that he wants to come into Camp Half-Blood without going through the wards and destroy camp altogether. Luke has been taken over by Kronos. His mind has been altered by greed of power and to be the best. Once Kronos is put back together and there isn’t a safe haven for the demigods, then his job of destroying all the gods would be easier. Luke, himself, just wants revenge on his father Hermes for not paying any attention to him. Of course the gods aren’t allowed to interfere in their child’s life much. Poseidon doesn’t seem to notice Percy until he’s being stared in the face by what he had done. It might not be fair but that’s what it means to be a demigod.

There doesn’t seem to be more than one way into the Labyrinth. The only way recorded is the string that is magic. Percy knows another way but it isn’t recognizable just yet. Receiving help from some of the gods is helpful but from others it seems to put a damper on things. Annabeth is in charge of this quest and they must find the one who built the labyrinth and stop him from helping Luke. The camp cannot be destroyed. It is hard to find who you can trust and who you cannot.

Once Percy figures out that a mortal that can see through the mist that the gods and demigods put around other humans is what they need to guide them through, he finds Rachel again. It seems that Rachel is human but can see through the mist and has helped Percy more than once. She helped him in the elevator and then again at the school. The only problem was that Rachel seems sweet on Percy and Annabeth doesn’t like that at all. So there is some lover’s tension in the air. Also Nico is in the labyrinth alone and if Luke figures out that Hades is his father and how useful he would be to their cause, Nico would become a sacrifice. So the gang are looking for Nico and trying to find Daedalus and figure out the trials of the labyrinth itself. It proves to be their biggest adventure yet.

This journey has many twists and turns and is well worth your time. It is well written as been the rest of this series and captured my interest first off and held it throughout the entire book. I cannot wait until the next one comes along. I don’t want this series to end.

Percy Jackson, aka Poseidon’s son, has a knack for trouble. His best friend Grover, a satyr, has a link with Percy. When Percy is sent a distressed message from Grover about two half-bloods, Percy has to go help him, along with Thalia, a daughter of Zeus. When trying to help Grover, they come across the goddess Artemis. She is the leader of a group of girls who have forsworn men and only hunt. While Artemis alone follows the bane of Olympus, the rest of the hunters must follow Percy and the new half-bloods to Camp. The hunters don’t like to be around men at all so it proves difficult to share a ride with the god Apollo himself back to camp. Thalia has become a friend to Percy as well. Thalia was the daughter of Zeus who instead of saving herself, she kept the monsters from Luke and Annabeth, which she wasn’t going to survive. When Zeus noticed that she wasn’t going to make it, he turned her into a tree to help strengthen the wards of the Camp. After the Fleece took the poison away, she was laying alone beside it and the tree was back to its prime.

As the Huntress Zoe is given a quest to find where Artemis is being held captive, all Percy wants to do is figure out if his dreams mean that Annabeth is in trouble or what. He has to find out. When Zoe leaves on the quest and takes one of the new half-bloods, Bianca, with her (who took the vow to become a huntress before Artemis left on her hunt ), Percy decides to eavesdrop. While checking out things, Percy notices Nico, Bianca’s little brother, and promises that he will watch out for Bianca when they’re gone. Of course that is one tall order to fill and even taller if not fulfilled.

Go on another adventure with Percy Jackson and the half-bloods as they, yet again, attempt to save the world with the help of the gods and not so much help from the gods.

These characters really intrigued me from the start. I enjoy reading the entire series. As I mentioned before I picked up a mythology book so I could keep up but that isn’t entirely true. I wanted to delve further into Greek Mythology since it interested me so much. I thought that The Sea of Monsters was my favorite out of this series until I read this one. The Titan’s Curse has so many twists in it that you don’t know what is going to happen. Really a great read.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians

Percy Jackson is different from others in his school. How different depends on how well you can see through the mist. When trouble comes to his school and is met by his friend from camp, Annabeth, Percy knew that things were bad. When Percy learned that the tree that keeps the wards around Camp Half-Blood safe has been poisoned, he knows just who would stoop that low. His one-time friend, Luke. If a cure cannot be found before the tree dies totally then all will be lost. Chiron, a centaur and friend, gets blamed for the poisoning and gets temporary leave of the Camp while everyone else tries to figure out what to do. Finding a cure is first and foremost. If the Camp is destroyed then there won’t be any place safe for demigods and the world would be overrun by monsters.

Percy and his friends take another journey to find out for sure that Luke was the enemy who poisoned the tree. They have also come up with an idea of what could save the tree and camp, The Golden Fleece. The new camp coordinator wasn’t in good with Percy and decided to give the quest to Clarisse, a child of the war god Ares. Hot headed at best and terrible to even think about at worst, Clarisse accepted the quest. Percy couldn’t let her go without trying to help especially with the dreams about his friend Grover being in danger. It seems that Grover, a satyr, has been on his own quest looking for the god of the wild, Pan. He seemed to link up with Percy somehow and now his feelings and such are broad casted for Percy. Annabeth decides to go along. Sneaking out of camp was hard enough but the journey they are about to start doesn’t even compare.

I went through this book so fast, I had to read it again. I am a big fan of Jason and the Argonauts and their quest for the Fleece, so I knew I would love this book. I even went so far as to buy a book on Mythology so I could understand better. This series might be written for teens and kids but I haven’t been a teen for awhile and I loved it. As soon as I finished it the second time, I grabbed the third installment of The Titan’s Curse and read that. I give this book and the whole series two thumbs up and a pat on the back for the author. Great Read!!!

Percy Jackson & The Olympians

www.read-that.com book reviews

Oh wow! I went through this book very fast. I just couldn’t put it down. Percy Jackson is a mixed up kid. Going from school to school and getting expelled from every one. He has been told that he has ADHD and been in six different schools for troubled kids within six years and about to be kicked out of this one. Things just seem to happen around Percy and he doesn’t know why. He actually has a friend in this school and likes one of his teachers really well. Mr Brunner teaches Greek Mythology here at Yancy. If he wouldn’t push him so hard to learn all about Gods then Percy would like him better.

When even more strange things start happening such as, his algebra teacher turning into some kind of creature and trying to kill him and nobody noticing. Plus everyone seemed to forget who that teacher was. It was a sick joke, Percy thought. When overhearing his favorite teacher and best friend talking about him and the danger he was in hit home. Grover, Percy’s best friend decided that he would follow Percy back home for the summer. When more bizarre stuff started happening, Grover admitted that there was a kindly one posing as their algebra teacher and that they needed to be careful.

When Percy gave Grover the slip and headed home alone, his mother was nervous about him having to go elsewhere. When Grover shows up at the cabin saying that they’re outside, his mother gets into the car and decides to take Percy to camp. Once after almost losing his life and Grover’s life, they made it to the camp but his mother didn’t make it with them. She sacrificed herself so he would make it safely. While at camp, Percy finds out he is an undetermined half blood. His father is a God. Not knowing at first which one is what makes him undetermined. After finding out he is the son of Poseidon, Percy is given a quest to find Zeus’s stolen lightning bolt and return it before a war breaks out in Mount Olympus. The Oracle tells him a riddle that in order to succeed, he must figure it out, make peace with the father that abandoned him, and find out who took the lightning bolt and return it. Awful big shoes to fill for a 12 year old but being Poseidon’s son should help, shouldn’t it?

I love this book. I have to run out and get the rest of the series. I was wishing throughout the whole thing that I would have paid more attention when I studied Greek Mythology in High School. This book was well written and easy to read but not to the point of making you feel stupid. It was an overall great read. The main plot was very interesting and there were many twists to keep you on the edge of your seat. It ended well and has more room for the next book to continue. I hate cliffhangers and this isn’t one of them. This story ends but makes you want to read more of the characters. I am dying to know what has happened to Percy after his quest.

You have got to read this! I promise you won’t be let down. Enjoy. I also can’t wait until the movie comes out. I picked this up after I saw previews of the movie and knew that I would enjoy this book.
