Percy Jackson is different from others in his school. How different depends on how well you can see through the mist. When trouble comes to his school and is met by his friend from camp, Annabeth, Percy knew that things were bad. When Percy learned that the tree that keeps the wards around Camp Half-Blood safe has been poisoned, he knows just who would stoop that low. His one-time friend, Luke. If a cure cannot be found before the tree dies totally then all will be lost. Chiron, a centaur and friend, gets blamed for the poisoning and gets temporary leave of the Camp while everyone else tries to figure out what to do. Finding a cure is first and foremost. If the Camp is destroyed then there won’t be any place safe for demigods and the world would be overrun by monsters.

Percy and his friends take another journey to find out for sure that Luke was the enemy who poisoned the tree. They have also come up with an idea of what could save the tree and camp, The Golden Fleece. The new camp coordinator wasn’t in good with Percy and decided to give the quest to Clarisse, a child of the war god Ares. Hot headed at best and terrible to even think about at worst, Clarisse accepted the quest. Percy couldn’t let her go without trying to help especially with the dreams about his friend Grover being in danger. It seems that Grover, a satyr, has been on his own quest looking for the god of the wild, Pan. He seemed to link up with Percy somehow and now his feelings and such are broad casted for Percy. Annabeth decides to go along. Sneaking out of camp was hard enough but the journey they are about to start doesn’t even compare.

I went through this book so fast, I had to read it again. I am a big fan of Jason and the Argonauts and their quest for the Fleece, so I knew I would love this book. I even went so far as to buy a book on Mythology so I could understand better. This series might be written for teens and kids but I haven’t been a teen for awhile and I loved it. As soon as I finished it the second time, I grabbed the third installment of The Titan’s Curse and read that. I give this book and the whole series two thumbs up and a pat on the back for the author. Great Read!!!
